x² - 6x + 16 = 0
Solution: Compare x² - 6x + 16 = 0 with ax² + bx + c = 0.
∴a =1, b = , c = 16,
∴ b² - 4ac = (-6)² - 4 X 1 X
∴b² - 4ac = + 64
∴b² - 4ac =
∴ b² - 4ac > 0.
∴ The roots of the equation are real and unequal.
